DigitalSloth - PocketDM

BeerSkunk

First Post
I just wanted to take a moment and let everyone know that DigitalSloth has a download for their PocketDM software. PocketDM is an application for handheld devices running on the PocketPC 2002 platform.

PocketDM provides screens for maintaining character data including stats, feats, skills, equipment, and spells. It calculates total weight carried, and it allows you easily track which spells a character has memorized. PocketDM allows you to easily export and import character files. Just export your character, use the IR receiver to beam the file to a friend, and they can easily import it into their copy of the program.

PocketDM also includes a dice roller and a random encounter generator. Random generators for treasure, weather, and magic items will be added soon.

PocketDM can be found here. Just click the Download link to try it out.

Enjoy!

Damn this makes me wish I hadnt given up my IPAQ for a palm! I am finding a new loathing for palm at any rate. Soon enough I will probably succumb to the urge to get a new IPAQ.

Haveing never had anything but a Palm m105 I don't know what you're loathing, other than the lack of PC-related software for it since RealmsCrafters went the way of Vaporware. :(

Maybe someone'll get ambitious and do a 'port' of this software (which sounds like everything I wanted, ie: Realmscrafter's stuff) over to the PalmOS. I have to hope this is possible as I'm certain that I'm not even remotely close to trying it myself, let alone writing something from the ground up.

Palm OS

We are looking into porting the software to Palm OS. I've been in contact with a Palm developer to see if he would be interested in doing the work for us.

Once a Palm OS version is available, you will be able to share character data between the Palm and Pocket PC versions. We will post here as well as on our website notifying everyone when development on a Palm version begins.

I should point out that "realmscrafter's stuff" is, in fact, *mine*.

Sure, Kozak will bitch about that, but the fact remains that everything *real* that was put out under the Realmscrafters name in terms of Palm programs - i.e., RPG Companion - was actually mine. The name is all that changed.

As for Pocket DM, please contact me [pf@saizai.com] and we can talk about some sort of collaboration, if you are so inclined. No point in having wasted work.

Any chance that the app will run on pre-"PockectPC 2002" PocketPCs? I have an iPaq 3640 running plain ol' PocketPC (WinCE 3, technically).

Testing for additional WinCE devices

I can't say for sure. We are taking a look at what will be necessary for us to insure the program will run on older WinCE devices. Until we've had a chance to properly test some other builds for older devices, we're not posting them. We will make an announcement when/if we get it running on older PPC versions.
