D&D 5E Dim Light question

Darkvision is 2nd level and allows a person to see in a 60 foot radius of dim light in complete darkness. So, it doesn't exactly create dim light, it allows a single person to see dim light.

Also, the cantrip Control Flames allows you to halve or double the radius of normal light. It effects any natural source of flame and lets, you create moving pictures withing the flames and actually lets you control the colour of the light. I see no reason why it can't also allow you to do things like create dim light - creating 'ambient' light and creating 'mood lighting' seems to be one of its primary functions.

You choose a nonmagical flame that you can see within range and that fits within a 5-foot cube. You affect it in one of the following ways:
  • You instantaneously expand the flame 5 feet in one direction, provided that wood or other fuel is present in the new location.
  • You instantaneously extinguish the flames within the cube.
  • You double or halve the area of bright light and dim light cast by the flame, change its color, or both. The change lasts for 1 hour.
  • You cause simple shapes — such as the vague form of a creature, an inanimate object, or a location — to appear within the flames and animate as you like. The shapes last for 1 hour.

Oh this is where the title goes?
Leomund's tiny hut allows you to make the interior dimly lit, that gives you 8 hours in a 10 foot radius.
