Also, as it hasn't been mentioned so far, Rivenblight's Castaway has stalled due to TH's (who was running it) absence. We've voted to wait a while longer, though, and see if he returns.

I would have assumed the same judge as for the main thread -- it makes more sense to allot judges by adventures rather than threads.
That was my thought as well, but I wasn't entirely sure, so I included it.

What does a judge do, anyway? I assume if the DM disapears, the judge would take over,
Keep in mind that Kahuna Burger's leave was a special case, as she can/could(?) still be contacted. But if that's the case, then yes, the judge can opt to continue the game (it should not be mandatory, though - everyone has a limit on how many games he can run effectively).

and the judge would be on the lookout for in appropriate posting, I guess. But otherwise, does the judge have to sign off on XP assigned? Or what?
Yes, these things. Look for small things the GM might have overlooked. Get the PCs out if the GM vanishes. Make sure the rewards (monetary, XP and otherwise) are more or less in line with the challenges faced. Answer questions regarding the forum if they come up, such as if it is possible to level up during an adventure.
I suspect I've missed a few things, but that should be the major ones.

In my last adventure, a Merry Chase, master by Kahuna Burger, during the adventure, we were given a magical ring. That ring was transforming all our damage from lethal to subdual. As Kahuna was unable to finish this adventure, it was quickly ended, so we would not stay stuck in it, but I don't know what happen to that magical ring. Do we have kepped them or we have lost them (taken back by our employeer)?

:D

I haven't found anything to indicate that your employer would ask to return the rings, but it still seems logical to me. Then again he said "could be lost", which might imply that you could keep it. Would propably be better to assume that the employer took them back, though.
Maybe the other judges could look into it, as well?

No prob. I was questionning because, as you saw, there was no remark that the would take them back after the contract, and Rinaldo, being a trader and not an assassin, would have use it a lot. Well, better chance next time.

I definitely think the rings should have been returned. They are too odd a magic item to be a keeper. They were also given so that the heroes could use non-lethal force against well-intentioned pursuers, which I think would imply that they should be returned once the adventure were done. They were not gifts, per se.

If Kahuna Burger had intended the rings to remain in LEW permanently, wouldn't that require a Proposal, since they're not in the SRD? Since she never made such a proposal, I'd take that as an indication that they weren't intended to outlast the adventure.

anniversary

I just noticed: The Red Dragon Inn was introduced to these boards on 19 Aug 2003. The first General Discussion thread started a day earlier.

That means LEW's first birthday just passed, without comment.

Happy birthday everyone! And here's to many more years of clever plot hooks, wily NPCs, creative imaginations, house rule debates, and polyhedral dice.
