Displacing weapon ability...

Kemrain and his friend get the credit for this puppy. Here's where it all started.

Displacing
The wielder of a displacing weapon leaves behind a trail of overlapping duplicates of their self whenever they move. Although these mirror images only exist for but a moment, the visual effect makes it difficult to pinpoint the exact location of the wielder. Whenever the wilder of a displacing weapon moves (using a move action), they benefit from a 50% miss chance as if they had total concealment. If the wielder moves only a 5-foot step, they benefit from a 20% miss chance, as if they had concealment. If the wielder does not move at all during the round, they gain no benefit.

In addition, the quasi-real mirror images also have deadly potential. The first time a target is struck by a displacing weapon, they must make a successful DC 16 Will (disbelief) save or suffer additional damage as the quasi-real mirror images seem to follow through on the attack and strike them in rapid succession. On a failed save, the target suffers 50% more damage from the weapon than normal for that attack and for the remainder of the round. The target is allowed this saving throw with the first successful hit against them each round, but only once per round. On a successful save, the target suffers no ill effects and they are immune to this effect of the weapon for 24 hours.

Moderate illusion; CL 12th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, displacement, mirror image; Price: ????.

I'm not sure if this is the best way to handle the 1.5 times damage bit, but I'll figure something out. Might be best to just add +1d6 or +2d6 points of damage (same damage type as weapon).

This is not about this weapon ability, but about one from that link of gathered enchantments. The annihilating property you have listed there seems a little powerful for a +5 equivalent. Not only is the death effect at least as powerful as that of a vorpal weapon, the additional damage (10dX) on critical hits empowers the weapon even more. Wouldn't perhaps an increase higher than +5 be more appropriate?

Actually, thanks for bringing that to my attention. That's not supposed to be there. It's a holdover from an older version. Basically, it should just be the bludgeoning version of Vorpal.

Nah. Consider the original vorpal; kills you on a crit, no save.

I know it's a littlke off topic, but the same guy who made the Sword of Echo, the displacement sword, came up with a necklace that made it's wearer translucent. The game effect turned out to be a 50% miss chance on opposing spot checks. Now that's an interesting effect, eh?

I'd definately have to say no. It completely defeats the purpose of a spot check, and even the invisibility spells can't do that. Even invisibile creatures can be seen with a really good spot check. It's also a little too reminiscent of 2e, if you get my meaning. :)

The aditional damage, plus the concealment neither being complete, could get a +2 bonus, I'm not good at raw price though.
