Divine Challenge and Attacks of Opportunity

In my game, a paladin has challenged and engaged a Kruthik Young.

Another PC maneuvers past the Kruthik Young. It now can do an opportunity attack.

So obviously, my question is:

A) If the Kruthik performs an opp attack, it takes the damage from Divine Challenge?

B) Assuming the monster is aware of this, would it take the attack or not - is this up to my judgement as a DM?

A) Yes. Any attack incurs the wrath.

B) The monster is aware the attack will hurt it. It is up to the DM whether or not it takes its OA.

yes

Once my players figured this out, they decided it was a much more valid tactic to try to use the divine challenge to stop OA's and allow breathing room for the casters.

Occasionally, the creature will swing, knowing full well the damage it'll recieve.

Other times, in the case of a zombie, the undead doesn't know enough to reason that it's a bad idea not to swing, and will implode with radiant goodness.
