Divine Versions of Arcane Spells

Oh I agree... but the maker of the new spell can put the power into a scroll and this can be shared with other clerics. If the other cleric wants to add it to his know list of spells instead of casting it off the scroll, he would indeed have to pray to his deity to enter it inot the permanent list.

Ok, good. But that's not what I got from the rules you posted. They seem to imply clerics who are given the new spell in written form can prepare and cast it on their own from that point on. Which is just silly, IMHO.

Yeah... well, the SRD doesn't always say everything involved.. just the basics.

I wouldn't think that It'd be a house rule to make a cleric get approval from his deity (hence the DM) to do anything to his spell list.

Well, I would think that a spell created from a cleric's study would be Deity-spesific.

The cleric of Luck in my game had some 2e luck spells converted, that are really faith-spesific; only those of Lliara can cast these spells. Sure, they could be shared with the church, but not those of another god.

And, let's not forget visual effects! A Cleric for the Goddess of the Ocean's hold person could be someone puking up sea-weed and water. Same effects, but visually yummy. :)

Also, a cleric of Mystra can cast wizard spells from scrolls, if they have the Magic Domain. Considering how the cleric can Cast them, then surely it's a possibility he can develop one.

Confusion is on the Trickery Domain.

I disagree Thanee. And if I had the books in front of me, I would show you exactly where the rules are for clerics researching new spells. If I recall, it involved a LOT of praying..... ;)

Seems like you're right there! :)

Weird, I really thought this would absolutely not fit with clerics.

Bye
Thanee - researching the arcane heal, harm and true resurrection now! :D ;) ;)
