DM and Players needed for NON-D&D PbP game

I actually was thinking about DMing a GI Joe comic game. I'm waiting till I'm done with finals in a couple weeks to get started on it, though. Mine would actually be placed in the GI Joe comic continuity, with the PCs being Greenshirts from the new comic line. Go here if you haven't heard about the new comic.

That said, I'd totally be up for playing in such a game AND DMing mine, particularly if the one I played in had some Metal Gear to it. :)

Oh, and I PROMISE there will be NO Cobra-La. :D

Cobra-La ;p blah

CC is so much more fun as a somewhat skewed used car salesman turned terrorist.

I got the first few issues of the new comic, got annoyed that they started giving everyone the outfits that the new figures have (particularly CC who I thought looked great the way Devil's Due drew him in the first four issues). I just decided to take another look and picked up #10 and 11, and the first issue of Frontline. Now that my irritation has subsided I'm thinking about going back and filling in the rest of my missed issues ;)

So that's two people for Metal Joe. Anyone else? And any preference for time period? I'd love to try doing it circa 1983 myself...

And you can definitely count me in if you start a Joe game ;)

EDIT - clarified a few things above

Three people for Metal Joe...ah not too sure if I want to relive the 80's though...LOL.

Would be nice if we could revamp the Joes into the present with the new technology and world views.

Also if you do a GIBoard Game I'm in for that.

That's fine, I can go either way ;)

Setting it in 2000+ could be pretty good too...and also very timely for their stated mission.

Well, when I get my game going, it'll be set in 2002/2003, so if we want the Metal Joe game to be in a different time period, perhaps the '80s or around 2010?

Actually I think I'll go with the 2010, maybe 2015. I think it works better for the Metal Gear aspect, and lets me incorporate a bit of the hard sci-fi I was thinking about earlier.

Yes, this sounds good... ;)

Go Joe!

(Although I'd perfer more realistic countries/terrorist groups as the baddies, rather than something odd like Cobra. More like a Tom Clancy TacOps game. If I havd time, I'd definately DM such a game, since I have ectensive knowledge in that area, but I really don't.

Ity would be pretty cool to have the characters going around the world getting plopped down for missions in exotic and hostile locales like Chechnya, Gaza, the Bekaa Valley, etc.)

I agree. I really like the counter-terrorist idea combined with some kind of black ops and getting plopped everywhere in exotic locales. Its a combination of GI Joe and Metal Gear that looks promising.

I believe Krizzel is working on something for you guys and I guess he might be the first DM.

Who else is interested in the Metal Joe game besides those whom I've named above?

I'ld love to, I'm liking d20 Modern alot. Course then again, us addicts just join everything. ;)

Yup. :)

I'll play in a near-future Metal Joe game, and in a couple/few weeks, I'll start a current day GI Joe game.

I'm working out the setting overview as I see it, and I'll post it in an OOC/Recruiting thread in a little while.

I'm keeping Cobra, but they will be vastly changed and not at all 'cartoony.' I'm not sure they'll even call themselves 'Cobra' at all. And they are only one of many potential threats.

I'm not sticking to any continuities at all, just borrowing ideas, and I'm trying to stray towards Metal Gear over Joe since garyh is going to make the 'pure' Joe game ;)
