Returning to the OP a second, I'm not sure about hiring yourself as a DM, purely because I don't know if there's a market for it. But given WotC are supposedly trying to attract new/casual players to 4e would hiring yourself as a D&D tutor/mentor be more practical?
For one thing you could do it online (email (for casual q&a), IM/chat or skype for being on hand during games) opening your potential customer base from local to global. You'd need to be flexible about working times I guess.
