DM Seeking advice:Disintegrate Counters needed

Burne

First Post
My poor Construct's and Undead need your help! How can a reasonable arcane or divine spellcaster protect himself (or itself) from Disintegrate.

More SR, More Touch AC, More Fortitude saves are not valid answers.

Things with do not work: Spell Immunity (only up to 4th lvl spells), Spell Turning (Doesn't turn Effect type spells).

Things which work but aren't that useful: Proof against Transmutation armor (Those most in need of protection can't or don't wear armor/use equipment).

Things that are available: Anything, the game in question, has a well equipped and balanced group of 21st level characters. While I try to limit the use of splatbooks I have and will use them on a small scale. The current monster in need of protection is a 23rd lvl caster, so most anything would go.

Thanks to all who respond

There is nothing that says you can't put this on a shirt, robe, cape, etc. You might need to do some research first, but the option is certainly there. :)

Spell Immunity has been used for some interesting effects. Check out Andy Collins' Ring Bracers of Shielding.

How about a +1 mithral buckler of proof against transmutation? No spell failure chance.

Yup. Just as good, though you would still have to research the application, but you get a nice little AC bonus to go along with it. Good thinking. :)

Make a character with the Spellfire feat, get a magic item that constantly hastes you, then tape a sign to your forehead that states the following: "Unless I specifically state otherwise, I am using my haste partial action to ready an action to absorb a spell using my Spellfire."

:D

Well if he is of that high a caster level, it would stand to reason that he has researched some spells in his time, and I think it would be perfectly reasonable for him to have researched a warding spell against such a thing.

I agree, but that's not an automatic thing. That would be something he and his DM would need to discuss. Like I said beofre, the possiblity is there. :)
