What I would like to see is a nice, clear chart for advancing creatures. Either by size or HD. Simple, cleanly written. But I'm sure that is too much to ask for...
Tell me more. Isn't the MM clear enough? :)

(Granted... Personally, I use an Excel spreadsheet that auto-calculates this stuff. I only need to change the size and HD and vóila.)

Authors:Jesse Decker, David Noonan, Chris Thomasson, James Jacobs, Robin D. Laws

My interests were piqued before, but with Laws' involvement this book is almost an automatic sale for me.

Well now...that does have potential. Let's see if they manage to muck this up...

So if it's a dungeon master book, why isn't the cover blue?

My thoughts exactly when I saw the cover for the first time. 3.x ed DMG = blue cover...

The brown covers lead one to expect PHB-style material, right? Meh... that isn't always true but still most brown-covers seem to mostly be filled with classes, feats, spells, and similar stuff.

As for the book itself, yep, it pretty much looks like a "must have" book. If something titled DMG2 isn't worth having, then WotC will have really really dropped the ball.

Doesn't wizards normally do a mock up of the cover, then when it comes out it looks completely different. I would assume the cover will actually be blue.

Anyway - looks like a book that could be good or crap. Need more info!

Why the cover isn't blue? Easy:

The DMG2 -- with more prestige classes and more magic items -- an essential sourcebook for any D&D player!

Damn, I practice a lot of optical gymnastic today.

Woo Hoo! My birthday is in June. Looks like my group knows what to get me! :)

(OK, not really a helpful or insightful response, but I couldn't help posting my glee. And actually, I had forgotten this book was on their release schedule for 2005, so having another reminder about it wasn't a bad thing either.)
