Do number of posts matter to you?

Does the number of posts a poster has matter to you for credibility?

I used to think that postcount was important until I realized that everyone who disagreed with me was wrong now matter how many posts they had.

Right, since we are on a D20 message board I figure it makes sense to use the d20 XP tables for level advancement. And 45k is tenth level!!

And remember we don't get posts deleted; we get level drained!! :p
Well, either way I'm sure you are the only one who can quicken a 1st level post. :D :p

Hmmm, meta or off topic, meta or off topic...

Off topic, I think!
Aw, why'd I get moved :uhoh: :o :(

I thought it fit in general. Oh well, I'm sure people will find it here. It was mainly for humor and in honor of my 1,000 post anyway :) ;)

Well, what do you expect from a 6th level poster

Gah, you are right... I'm at work and had to work out the exp tables in notepad real quick to try and figure out where you would be and I started with 1k at level 1. >_>

It's kind of hard to take anyone seriously if their join date is after Jan 2002. Freakin' n00bs.

Whatever, grandpa. I can't take anyone serious if their join date is before Nov 2002. Freakin' geriatric dinosaurs.

Great. Only rugrats and old geezers around. Hey, Asmor, the flamewar's over, this is the new millenium. CDs aren't evil, and I don't care how in your days you had to go up uphill logging in AND out around here! Hey, Halivar, pull your pants up, your diapers are showing, and turn off this awful noise you call music!

Numbers of posts mean nothing to me, but boy, it sure does for SOME people. :p

Unfortunately quantity does tend to decrease quality. It seems to me that message boards with post counts tend to encourage regulars to post whenever and wherever they can to get the post count up. I mean, I have seen so many "QFT" posts from high-post-count members.

To me, the length of time here means a lot more, and in a lot of ways I tend to take those with long histories and moderate post counts more seriously.

But in the end, it depends on the poster and what they post. After all, I only really inhabit two forums here, so there ar a lot of high post count people I have never even seen a post from.

It depends. I the postcount is REALLY low, say only a couple dozen, I might take what they have to say with a grain of salt, mostly because I don't know anything about their opinions or how they think. Someone with a large postcount I don't jude by the numbers, but if it's really high I probably recognize the poster and know whether or not I generally agree with what they say.

All in all, straight post count means very little. Someone could get a dozen posts a day by participating in a few threads that involve a lot of short responses. After all, a well thought out discourse of several paragraphs and a "QFT" all look the same on the post count.

'Sides, if post count is REALLY what matters, no one is even paying attention to what I'm saying. I browse the forums several times a day, but I don't post unless I really think that I have something worthwhile to say.
