Do number of posts matter to you?

Does the number of posts a poster has matter to you for credibility?

Hmmm, I chose 'only if they disagree with me', but that is not accurate - I check the number when someone is being rude, trollish, or just plain off their nut. ('Cause I love one post wonders producing 'I am Quitting D&D' posts...)

Though it is hard to beat 'The Silent Whale'....* :p

At first I thought it mattered. Not for senority or betterment but more as a competition. Then I saw how much free time some people have and I decided it dosen't matter.

That said, I will now reply 100 times tonight...... :)

It's funny though, some posters with low post counts I recognize, yet some posters with huge post counts, I don't recognize at all. I wonder, where the heck they are posting.

There are many spots to "hide" and boost count count.

PbP, Off Topic, Media and Rules are the easiest to rack up counts quickly and depending on one's interests, may never see a reply from a person with 10,000+ posts.

and me....post count +3

I'd probably post more but most of the threads that really get me thinking have 43 pages and I tend to find things to do around page 34 and I just can't post without ingesting the entirety of the discussion. :\

Hmm... Ingest... Now I'm hungry. :p

Yup. If a guy with 6 posts starts going on about how much D&D sucks and how this game or that edition is so much better, you can't help but wonder which regular poster made that account to have a little fun...

That is true. That was a work of pure genius, and made it into my desktop wallpaper collection (in a Visa ad imitation: "RPGnet account: free, A coin to flip: $0.10, My hate of d02: no limit)

Something that gets me is the non Mods that have thousands of posts (say over 8,000) in just a couple of years. How-? And more importantly- why?

How: Posting 8000 times or more :p
Why: Why not?

Oh, and I agree with you: Those guys with 8000+ posts really need to get a life ;) :p

I suppose we all have things in life that are important to us, and the value of them is different to us all.

Sounds like my reason is waking up again- she has nightmares like her Dad. Gonna be another long night.

Take care, and take no offense (none was intended).

Mine's sitting in front of my PC, increasing his postcount ;)

Have you considered using some of your excess posts to create magic items?

I made a trollbane sword. Gave it to Piratecat. Notice how few trolls are around on ENWorld? You can thank me for that!
