Do we know the PHB2 Races?

Remathilis

Legend
At this point, we know the eight classes in PHB2 (Avenger, Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Invoker, Shaman, Sorcerer, Warden) but what do we know of the new races?

Well so far...

Gnome: (Confirmed in FRPG and D&D XP)
Half-Orc (Conformed in FRPG and D&D XP)
Deva (Confirmed in FRPG and D&D XP)
Goliath (Confirmed in FRPG, D&D XP, Primal D&D Heroes set)
Shifter (Confirmed in D&D Character Builder, look under PHB 2 in "custom setting" tab)

Is that it? 5? Will we get another few new races beyond that to bring the total to six or eight?

If we do, what will they be? My guesses.

NOT: Warforged (Eberron Players Guide, hinted at in Genasi/WF article), Gnoll (DDi), Minotaur (DDi), or Shadar-kai (DDi).

Mostly likely not the classic monster races like Orc or Goblin (though who knows).

Not a Psionic Race (saved for whichever PHB has psi in it).

Not Drow or Genasi. (FRPG)

What doesa that leave? Perhaps Githzerai/Githyanki, Doppleganger/Changling, or some odd race from the 3e period (like Raptorans, Cat-folk, or illumain).

Is there any other notice on how many races and which other races are going to be in PHB2?

Have to say I wonder what races the Eberron's Player Guide will have. Eberron had Warforged (which have appeared in Dragon but in no book) shifters (which are in the PHB2 but we still don't know exactly how they are implemented), kalashtar and changelings/doppelgangers. I'll understand if shifters stay in PHB2 only but the other 3 all should be there. Not to mention that orc and goblinoid characters are rather common in Eberron as well (one of the best places to intergrate monster races).

IIRC, I think Warforged and Kalashtar will be the two races in Eberron, along with the Artificer classes. This should mirror Forgotten Realms Drow and Genasi races with Swordmage.

I'm betting that the Doppelganger will also be in Eberron.

Eberron just wouldn't be Eberron without changelings. The two characters I played in Eberron were changelings.

There's no reason at all that every setting player's guide needs to have two races and one class just because the FRPG did. Especially races, which don't take up much space. No needless symetry!
