Do you always put your stat bumps in your two highest stats?

Usually I'll increase my two best stats, but sometimes I'll bump another stat to qualify for something like the critical feats.

Are you playing a character who has put stat bumps in other stats?

No, normally i bump the main stat every time, and the rest go where i think they should based on what the game dictates. If we are having lots of RPing encounters then i will bump CHR, if i am getting hit with lots of AE i bump DEX. It also helps that i set most of my stats to an odd number at level 1.

All characters have one primary attack stat: one bump always goes in that.

The other one, it depends on the PC. Some have a secondary stat that's almost as vital as the primary attack. Some have two secondary stats that I want to balance. Some have a bunch of feats for which I want to qualify.

So: for one of the two points, it depends.

The second stat bump goes to the secondary stat if it's important (wis or cha for a str paladin), or to get access to a feat.

I think I am loke most posters. One of the two bumps always goes to my main stat, butthe second one generally evens out odd numbers on abilities that will give me a nice bonus.

Same here. That's primarily how I do it in 4E/Saga Edition. In 3rd, it was whichever of the two options that would help my character the most.

I don't get to play much, but every character I have made/played has done all primary/secondary.

For the other players in our group, I'd say 90-95% of the stat bumps are in the top two stats.

I think this assumption also depends on the character.

It seems most applicable to classes with only 2 key stats. Take for instance a half-orc brutal scoundrel rogue. A typical player would likely start off with 16s in both str and dex (so that he starts with 18 str/dex), 12-13 in con and leave the rest at base. He will then probably apply the +1 stat bonus every 4 lvs to str and dex, the stats which have the most impact on the effectiveness of his character.

While +1con would grant an extra surge, he might be tempted to just leave it to lv11, when he gets +1 to all stats.

So there are definitely exceptions.

I reflect on the events and actions that have happened in game and put the increase in a stat that seems natural for the character to have grown in.

Since everyone generally boosts their primary stat, I think this is a clue that "to hit" should not have been bound to an ability score. You want it as high as possible anyway, and it gets in the way of multiclassing.
