DM two 5E campaigns, play in another. Group of friends that has been gaming together for like twenty years (I've been gaming with them for ten+) mostly plays Pathfinder 1E, because there's a guy who's a good-to-great GM but a lousy-to-unpleasant player (to play with), and he only wants to run Pathfinder 1E.

I am a Game Master by choice, though I will happily sit in as a player on occasion. If anyone else wanted to run a game, I would stand aside and let them, assisting and coaching if requested. Teaching new players and GMs may be the most enjoyable and rewarding thing I do from behind the screen.

I've been Dming since the day I started this hobby (see the tag line under my avatar?).
Specifically 12/26/1980 when I set about reading my brand new Basic book + Module B2 in prep for playing a few days later.
(we would've played on Christmas, but we discovered there was far more involved in this game.)

Though it's gone in phases where I'm either more DM or more player atm, overall it's worked out to a fairly even split. Especially these last 5 years or so where I've generally been DMing 1 game & playing in another.

I love DMing. Wich is great because I've got far too many ideas to get out of my head than I could ever manage from solely the players side of things.

In my current group, there are a few of us that take turns DMing a campaign. I'm up again for the next campaign.

I'm a perpetual GM. Started that way out of necessity because there wasn't anyone willing to when I was younger but found out I enjoy it. it give me a fix for my unhealthy obsession with constantly tinkering with a system.
Even the few times I am playing a single character I find myself more focus on helping the other players connect with the game.

I am forced to vote "Other." There is nothing closer to "Usually player, sometimes DM". We have 5 people in our group and rotate DMing so I DM like 20% of the time in aggregate.

I hate to be the guy complaining about missing poll options, but I'm surprised that the poll includes player always, DM always, mostly DM, and 50/50 were present... but the fifth option for mostly player and occasional DM is missing.

It's not just you. The poll contained a bunch of answers with barely no distinction with some of the most common options not included at all.

It's hard to make a perfect poll though.

I am mostly a DM with a rare opportunity as a player. Most of the people I game with (and have for decades) don't DM because they don't see the appeal, or the amount of work is too much (heck, one player can't be bothered to read his own class between sessions let alone DM 😒)
I mostly GM but play is not too rare.
