Someone mentioned Art re-use in some other thread and I was hard-pressed to say if I'd ever seen this until I looked at the Grand History book last week. There's a lot of re-used art in it, a lot of it from Eberron products. There's one picture of a warforged in it, but it's being used to illustrate something else that occurred; someone's armor or something, not that warforged were in the Realms.

Hmmm. Interesting.

Grey Richardson mentioned this over at the WoTC boards.

If you check out the preview page of the Grand History called "the Scouring of the Utter East" (page 95) it discusses how the peoples of the 5 kingdoms discovered mysterious ancient "bloodforges", which I presume are the equivalent of Eberron's soulforges, and which enabled the creation of armies of enchanted golems, scattered across the Utter East. The 5 kingdoms used those armies to war against each other until a 6th party intervened.

You can read it for yourself here. (Zip File)

Anyway, I really, really don't like the idea of Warforged in the Realms. Warforged are nice and all, but can we please keep some things exclusive to some campaign settings? Lets actually have some differences between settings please. :)

And Wiz, we've had more important things to worry about, Re: The Realms, then one obscure reference to possible Warforged in GHoTR. Besides, Rich Baker has stated that there will be no Warforged in the Realms.

The term "meat wizard" was used on the page before the art error (that picture should have been a dragon or something scaled, not a warforged). That could imply some non-fleshy being. Or not.

Here's the paragraph on this page:

p95 of the GHotFR said:
In the Year of the Dancing Daggers, King Grewe of Konigheim discovered a bloodforge—an ancient war machine capable of manufacturing whole armies of enchanted golems. Within tendays, the Ffolk had uncovered other bloodforges throughout the Five Kingdoms. Unrestrained by the expense of raising and maintaining armies, the lords of the Five Kingdoms went mad with battle-lust, each sending armies of golems against the other four realms. Our people watched helplessly while the Ffolk reduced one another’s great cities to rubble, despoiled our ancestral lands, and shredded one another’s defenses.

Bloodforges are previous to eberron. They also appear in the Blood & Magic D&D RTS.
You create living golems from them, the golems may turn into obelisks to gather mana, than you use the mana to turn the golems into many of the units of the game.

Although the bloodforges aren't new, I don't want robots in FR. At least not as race. I'd accept a robot character being a unique creature created by a mad wizard (mad because there is no reason to waste effort and gold to create somehting as powerful as an ordinary human), and if the story was nice I'd let it in the game.
But as the robot race, no thanks.
