The only time I was on the D&D forums was during the D&D Next Playtest. I don't know if that was Gleemax or not, but it was really toxic during the playtest. Everyone got super divided on different things (damage on a miss and martial healing being the biggest), and if you disagreed with someone, they acted like you were literally Hitler. It was awful, and I almost stopped with the playtest until I found ENWorld.
I was on them all throughout 4e and until they closed. People always have opinions and some feel passionate about them. I never take internet chatter personally, so I guess I never felt much of a difference between the WotC forums and EnWorld.

There was plenty of that stuff here at EN World at the time as well.

They have shown some willingness to bring some small Setting specific bits in without UA testing (Wildemount, for example). I Van imagine that the Feat elements they have planned are basic enough and tied enough into established FR lore that they don't feel a need to publicly test little bits and cons like they do with Subclasses or new Classes.

They didn't test the revised Eberron Species, either.
