Do you need more dice?

Not counting character creation (where i need 4d6) the most of any dice that I will need at any given time during play is 3 of the same type. Beyond that, anything else is extra.
Having said that, I tend to buy one new set of dice everytime I join a new game group. Just a habit/tradition and not necessity.

or alternatively:
"I need a new set of dice like you need a new Precious Moments figurine.... so, yes."
On a different note: I gave my son and his cousin a leather kit to hand make a small dice bag right after I started teaching them to play last year. At Gencon, my son bought a new, much larger, leather dice bag for all the dice he's picked up since. So proud, so proud.

(at last count I had 23 complete sets out of the 27 I have bought in the 20 years of gaming I've done.)

word has it that ol' Santa is getting each of my kids their own personal set of dice so that don't borrow his anymore. Along with a book to hold character sheets, paper, graph paper, pens, pencils etc....
A new generation begins
This isn't a lie. To felines, dice and indistiguisable from cat toys. I'd lost the d8 from my special limited edition glow in the dark Call of Cthulhu dice that I paid $36 for. Months later, I found it under the TV stand. I'm certain the cat is to blame.
My favorite story about gamers and dice has to do with my sister. She's an artist and had an idea for a scuplture - a dragon made out of dice! To get the materials, she'd just ask all the gamers she knew if they had any extra dice.
The sculpture never happened. No such thing as extra dice.
I love dice!!! You can never get bored with them. All those boring times during class I used to roll my dice to see how many 20s i could get...

Yes, yes, yes. I never need more dice, but oooh! look! new dice! Want!
Plus, there is always that distant hope that new dice will somehow be luckier than old dice.
And this causes far fewer complications than the situation where the word "dice" is replaced by wife, girlfriend or significant other.
