I would not do that to Morrus. One poll is enough. I'm just saying what I would have gotten more out of in terms of this kind of polling.

Maybe I'll post a second poll in 6 months.
Do it after the previews and media hype train get underway. That'll be an more accurate picture than now, when all people have to go on is fragmentary UA releases.

So no, we can't take the fact that they responded to the polls any evidence that the respondents have bought a new 5e book in years, if ever. Many are simply expressing their strong opinions, like if a bunch of militant vegans decided to review bomb a new offering from Outback Steakhouse. There was never any hope of them being customers in the first place, so their opinions are of dubious value.

Pretty much everybody will be talking about the new books when they come out, regardless of how many people buy them, was what I was getting at. It’s the whole nature of internet forums like this one.
It‘s not a bad thing. (apart from the bitter hate watching ex fans you mentioned)

Now, as an Australian I have my own issues with Outback Steakhouse but this is neither the time, nor the place. 😉

Well, yeah, they sometimes do rules tweaks with errata when something is being consistently abused or confused. I'd say the 2024 books go quite a bit beyond that, though. The difference is very likely, "Hey, if we're going to be printing whole new books, what ELSE could we change, beyond just the errata, while still being essentially the same game?"

The playtest helped to define those limits.
"Tweak" is a very subjective term. All it really does is highlight the preferences of the person using it.

I don't believe you that you don't know what 5e means in this context.

Indeed, the pedantic distinction you just made would ruin your point, since you were claiming we needed to distinguish between 2014 5e and 2024 5e and neither would do anything for Level Up.

Micah, whatever point you were trying to make is getting more confusing the more you advocate for it. It definitely didn't need to be made for this poll. We ALL understood what was being asked. Including you.
Referring to WotC's version of the game simply as "5e" is a pain point for me, whether I know what you mean or not. It's dismissive of all the great work on that game people who aren't WotC have done, and elevates them beyond what I believe they deserve.

More evidence to support the theory that very few are making that decision out of apathy.... except in the case of very passionate apathy.
If only people who buy the books would participate, the poll would be pointless. It's not exactly a lot of effort to vote in this so you can be pretty apathetic and still participate...
