Doctor Octopus

BTW, what is the deal with that, killing the villain as the plot device of almost any superhero movie? Superhero = Slayer?

What do you mean?

Spiderman did not kill Norman- Norman did himself in.. the same way he did in the c-book.

Daredevil did not kill Bullseye or Kingpin.

Ahhh...Doc Oc...that should be fun. I would like to see the symbiots, but if we do get to see them in the 3rd film, I would only expect Venom since Carnage isn't as "poplar". Venom is just...well...Venom! Not saying I don't love Carnage. :D
And as for Doc Conner...well, he WAS mentioned by Parker in the first film. Have to listen carefully, but Parker is working with him...so who knows...might get to SEE him at least.

IIRC - Parker mentions he did not get a job he interviewed with him.

Venom would be a horrible choice any time soon- his character knows so much about Spidey, and Spidey is still being defined. He certainly is not Spidey at the end of the first movie.. he is getting there though.

Doc Oc should be perfect. I read, somewhere, that the special effects crew did a test shot for the arms and brought it to the big people- they were impressed to see the 8 arms all moving together seamlessly (lighting a cigar, answering a phone, holding the cigar, and doing other things..).

So who would be good choices down the road?

The Lizard would be fine- but it almost would need a horror movie-like aspect to it.

Sandman might be a bit too much for a movie, but he would be cool.

Mysterio would be cool, but I heard a rumor he may be used for the DD sequel.

Elekto- nah, unless beaten in the beginning scene. He is not worth a movie.

Sin Eater would be cool- for a movie before the Venom one.

Harry's GG is an obvious choice, but would need to wait.

Sabretooth would be cool, but Xmen was done by a different company. And he would only be cool if the Foreigner was in it with him (ahh, I miss that character).

BlackCat could be fun, but I would be afraid it would be butchered like CatWoman.

Hobgoblin may be another fun interlude- a guy who stumbles upon one of GG's old labs. He could work for some other villian (the Rose? Nah, DD will get him), and Spidey could freak out thinking he was dealing with Norman somehow.. It could also be used to push Norman over the edge.

Hmm. I don't know.

Okay, sometimes not intentionally, but the major villain of the story always dies at the end of the movie, the climactic part. For example, the famous Jack Nicholson's "Joker" who ended up falling down from a great height. I mean I would LOVE to see him back on-screen as the Joker, but considering how the story went, resurrecting him would only cheapen the character image I have of him.

Such major villain is what defines the superhero. I mean even Sherlock Holmes have Doctor Moriarty to fight time after time.

Gee, I'm hoping that they'll use Marvel Team-up #137 as the shooting script for the third film. That was the issue where Aunt May becomes a super hero and fights Galactus!

There was a reason that the Joker was killed in the first Batman movie. Jack Nicholson only agreed to play the Joker on the condition that he would not be coming back in any future sequels. To this end, it was agreed that the Joker should be killed at the end of the film.

And I think that you are forgetting that the Riddler, Dr. Freeze and Poison Ivy all survived – and that there was strong evidence that Catwoman did as well.

And let's not forget that Lex Luthor is still a threat to all mandkind.

True, but it was also the Batman movie that did not do well in the box office. Of course, there may be other factors (casting George Clooney, introducing Alicia Silverstone as Alfred's niece who turns out to be Batgirl, etc.) that contribute to the low ticket revenue.

Yeah, yeah, I know. But that was in the early 80's.

Still, the grittier the superhero movies are these days, the more tragic it is to be the main villain.

Really? Where did that come from? I know there was a clip cut from the end where a policeman makes the final comment "Geez, he's still alive." and at some point right after the first movie there was apparently some discussion on using the Joker again, though by now it's obvious that's not likely to happen.

I find it rather ironic that Jim Carey was later casted to play the Riddler, when IMHO he would have been a perfect Joker (since to me the best Joker is the one from the Animated series, and I can see Carey as that).

I still think Venom would be perfect as a choice. I personally think the last movie defined Spider-Man quite well actually. The thing of it would be that Venom, the Lethal Protector, would present an interesting contrast. He's the dark side of Spider-Man, the one that has no problem just killing any bad guy he finds. It's great as a character study.

And of course, Carnage is that for Venom. I personally think that they should go about the back-story for Venom and Carnage, but then skip straight into Maximum Carnage, and not bother with the backstory for the additional superheroes and villains. Such a movie would be long (and very, very bloody, earning it an R rating I bet), but I'd bet a lot it'd be a total blockbuster.
