Doctor Who 2007: Blink

Excellent episode. Curious about one thing though
The Doctor mentions that he is rubbish at weddings, especially his own. When did he get married?

Another terrific episode - the partial absence of the Doctor only made it scarier !

Presumably -
back on Gallifrey when he had children and a Granddaughter (Susan) !
given they keep referencing this I suspect we're i n for a big reveal at some point.

LOVED THIS EPISODE!

I thought it was brilliant. They did a good job with it. The angels and how they moved were awesome! Especially toward the end! Wow!

I can't wait for the next episodes! And I can't wait to see the big reveal of this season!

I also am glad that Jack's back! Woo hoo!

Take care.

I'm confused about the Jack preview - it doesn't match the season finale of Torchwood. Here's a clip from next week's episode:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVRXjLaFsOg

This has Jack running down the street towards the TARDIS shouting "Doctor! Doctor!", The TARDIS dematerialising with Jack somehow hanging onto it from the outside (and since when was that possible?)

However, the Torchwood finale clearly had the TARDIS apparently materialising (offscreen) inside the Torchwood Hub, and Jack then disappearing:

So this is either a continuity error, or these are two totally separate instances of the TARDIS coming to Cardiff and picking up Jack.

Any thoughts?

Well, it could just be that the Doc encounters Jack next episode before or after the pickup at the end of Torchwood.

Yeah, although then and right afterwards in the basement when the light was flickering, they really should have been beset upon before they knew what was happening.

And I knew that at the time, And I knew that despite their leering fangs that they weren't actually going to do anything violent, just chronoport them into the past. And yet I wss still genuinely creeped out the whole time. Suspension of disbelief fully kicked in. That's makes this episode a real masterpiece in my book.

Folks are giving credit to the writer, which is certainly due, but don't overlook the score. Though of course, you're supposed to overlook the score, being creeped out without it sinking in that it's largely due to some bit of music or sound effect that's not actually happening in the context of the story.

I had the same thought when I saw a Jack preview either last week or a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, it looks like it was just a continuity error. Presumably, someone thought the idea of a shot of Jack running towards the TARDIS and catching onto it would come across as more dramatic than the TARDIS materializing inside Torchwood and him grabbing hold. Dunno.

Another thing that strikes me is that it looks like the TARDIS materializes right outside of where Torchwood's secret entrance is, so why is Jack running like he came from the dockside entrance? (And where did he find the time to grab a backpack?)

Plus, is it me, or does the Doctor see Jack in the monitor, and decide to dematerialize anyway after only a slight hesitation?

Yeah, I can confrm that. Seems he's not too happy about bringing jack along - which seems contrary to the imlication at the end of Torchwood.

Certainly the greetings they shot to each other ("Doctor", "Captain") were less than warm in the clip I saw. I forget whether that was in the teaser on the episode, or at the end of Doctor Who Confidential.

It was in the teaser. I wondered about the continuity there as well, and watched the last scene of Torchwood again. It's all a bit unclear as it happens off-camera. I suppose that we might not be seeing the final moments of Torchwood in real-time, but Gwen's reactions don't really bear that out. Oh well. Next Saturday will show more, I guess.

Loved this episode to bits - it creeped me out like nothing I have seen on TV in ages! Great stuff. In the last two days I have watched the first two Back to the Future films (with the kids, as they hadn't seen them yet, Great Scott!) and Butterfly Effect (er, not with the kids!), so this fitted into things wonderfully. Those statues were scary! I'll be watching this with the kids tomorrow afternoon when they get back from school - I predict that my daughter will be running from the room within the first few minutes and her older brother will have his cushion at the ready :)

I wonder if those bestial fanged folks in the teaser have anything to do with the animal planet from the last episode with Ace and the Master back before Dr Who went off the air? Probably not, but it did call that to mind.
