Doctor Who 2007: Blink

No-one's pointed out that Sally Sparrow is a babe. So I will.

Sally Sparrow is a babe! Ow! That's hot!
Damn it, I wanted to point that out. In case someone missed it. :)

The police detectives reaction was perfectly understandable (not that I could be that bold :) )

By the way - was their respective attractions part of the "potential energy" our quantum-looked weeping angels were into?

But about Sally Sparrow - if the Doctor needs a new Companion, I wouldn't mind if it was her. Though I am perfectly happy with the current one, so let's just hope the actress will make a few other good shows and movies. :)

Sometimes I am afraid that I have become a bit "emotionally cold" in regards to TV, because I know that I didn't "feel" the scaryness of the weeping angels as much as I should have. Because, damn, they would be scary in real life. Alien monsters that you will never catch moving?
Even if their type of "killing" isn't as bad as it could be - I wouldn't want to be put back decades back in time, but at least the victims shown on screen weren't that bad off.

I've just realised - this story was basically derived from that old favourite childrens game "Peep behind the curtain". I remember how creepy that could be when every time you turned round the people were nearer but you couldn't see them move!

I wonder if there are any other good childrens games that could be ransacked for Dr Who inspiration?

In The Impossible Planet/Satan Pit, Rose couldn't use the phone once the TARDIS fell down to the center of the planet.

Hmm... I thought the lack of signal was due to the fact that they'd gone so far out. Remember, they were "beyond the TARDIS' knowledge." (I think that was the exact phrase used.)

But either way, I guess I'm content to assume the cell signal needs the TARDIS, and leave it at that. ;)

The tricky thing here is that Blink may not stand up to repeat-viewwing. You notice lots of things you didn't.

Like you can affect people in the TARDIS by rocking it back and forth? Kinda thought it was immune to impacts. It's taken some rough treatment in the past.

Also, the angels' speed seems highly variable. In one instance, Sarah sees them across the street on a window ledge. They move to her side of the street just in the space of a blink. Later, of course, they don't pounce nearly as fast. Heck, when she first gets the key there's plenty of chances for them to get her. One standing right beside her wasn't able to grab her.

Ah well. Still marking it down as a personal fave.

Oh, I noticed them on first viewing.

I thought that they couldn't even see themselves. So, when she grabs the key, they have to be cautious so they don't see themselves. I could be wrong.

In terms of the TARDIS, waaaay back in the episode The Romans, though showed that what happens outside can effect the inside. Whether or not it's the way it should be is another point but I think this happened before.

Again, in terms of them being grabbed when they were in the basement, the whole trick was that they couldn't look at each other, which meant they had to be cautious. That's my take on it.

Of course, I liked the episode and can come up with explanations for it!

:)

Take care.

The way I saw it, Sally and Lawrence were safe inside the TARDIS, even though it was being rocked back and forth- it's not the first time we've seen people inside the TARDIS doing the "Star Trek bridge rocking" thing. I think the Angels were shaking it out of frustration more than anything else.

The problem was that for some reason, the TARDIS was dematerializing without them, which would have left them in quite a pickle, if not for them catching one another's gaze.
