Doctor Who SE04 EP12: The Stolen Earth (Spoilers!)

Well I thoroughly enjoyed that. I thought that the drama was well written and the few humourous moments didn't detract from the seriousness of the storyline. I loved the Daleks knowing who Harriet Jones was, that got my biggest laugh.

Davros was very well played I think, and I liked him chiding the Supreme Dalek for arrogance/over confidence. Dalek Caan was just creepy! Can't wait for the conclusion to this!

Excellent episode. Completely surpised by the ending! Wow. Am now very worried about Gwen and Ianto.

I loved the scene where
the Dalek cries of "Exterminate" arrived over the airwaves
and we got to see all the characters reacting. Nice bit of resonance there, recalling all the times they have all faced them in the past.

So much going on, yet it all held together particularly well. A bit nervous that we might get a "magic reset button" effect like in last season's finale, but hoping that it plays out without any dramatic jiggery-pokery of that sort.

I was also interested to hear
Dalek Caan
refer to the Doctos as "the threefold man" (or, at least, I think that's what I heard.) Wonder what that means.

I liked it, despite the presence of Davros (who I thought was an OK villain in the original "genesis of the daleks" - OK, but not great. I've never been able to see him as a credible villain after that though).

Dalek Caan was great though.

Wow. What an ending.

I can't wait for next week's episode.

Otherwise, there was a little too much of the "Doctor's Amazing Friends" going on in this episode- and the whole Shadow Proclamation thing seemed rather pointless (I'm assuming they'll make an appearance next week, otherwise... blech.) What's with the Judoon working for the SP, though? If the SP are galactic police, why do they have Rent-A-Cops working for them?

But again. What an ending.

(Personally, wouldn't much care if Ianto and Gwen bite it- I think the whole Torchwood concept needs a revamp anyway- or at least the cast and writing do. Torchwood as a concept is cool, I just haven't cared for its execution at all. I would rather have Happy Jack from Doctor Who than Tortured Jack from Torchwood, and all the coworker-sleeping together drama and such, ick.)

Anyway, speculations on what's going on with the Doctor? Is this the end of Ten after all? (There has been much caginess going on about him, but who knows?)

Wish Rose had gotten more to do this ep, too, though I will admit seeing the Doctor with his friends and especially seeing Rose brought me to the verge.

Late again. ARGH!!! STUPID BLOODY CONNECTION!!!

Ahem... Anyway, back to the subject at hand. HOLY CRAP. What a great 45 minutes of Who goodness. From the Doctor's companions working together, to the general apocalyptic feel of the story. This looks to be a great season finale. Whether it will top the great Dalek finale of Season 1 remains to be seen.

And the Daleks... it's just a treat to see them so menacing once more.
The insane Dalek Caan is a nice touch, wonder what part he'll play still. And Davros came out good as well. And no, I still think he's a daft nemesis from the classic series. But here, he comes off as quite creepy and unsettling, the Doctor is well and truly shocked to see him once more. What a difference good writing makes to improving your bad guy profile.:)

But man, what a cliffhanger. Can't wait for next week.:D

everyone glued to their seats in my household

65 minute epidosde next week so hopefully it want al get too rushed

65 mins? Cool that's even longer than the Xmas specials. I really hope they can close this season out well and not have a deus ex machina/maguffin solution to this. Ohh and I really hope that they don't wipe out Davros and the Daleks this time around, but simply drive them off/thwart them.

I'm wickedly curious as to what the Daleks are doing with the populations of 27 planets if they aren't making them into more Daleks. Afterall Davros said that all the new Daleks were created from him, so... what do they need all those billions of people for exactly?
