D&D 5E Does anyone else feel like the action economy and the way actions work in general in 5e both just suck?

@Son of the Serpent, here is an idea I have been toying with, but haven't implemented (or even completely thought out) yet:

6-Action Economy
You have 6 actions you can take during a round. Some activities cost more than I action. You can take any combination of actions or multiple actions of the same type, but you cannot exceed the total of 6 actions.

Simple 5e based Action Costs (move action categories as you see fit):
Move: 1 action (distance depends on race, but 10' for most)
Standard Melee Actions: 3 actions (some class features reduce this cost)
Standard Ranged Actions: 4 Actions (some class features reduce this cost)*
Spells: 3 actions + 1 per spell level, cantrips = level 0 (some class features reduce this cost)
Bonus Action: 2 actions
Object Interaction: 1 action
Reaction: 1 action (maybe 2,or dependent on action type - undecided)

You could obviously change the action cost of certain things as needed (like shove, tumble, disengage mentioned up thread) for your style

*This could be weapon based too, but I made it different because I want to reduce range attack effective some

EDIT: revised the action cost of some items

Got it. I remember them disagreeing about how often one can roll a recharge in general (because the rules asks for a recharge roll after a battle, and Heinsoo originally felt that could mean any battle) but the barbarian one is specifically called out as recharging after the battle in which it was used.
Basically at one point the designers say that they disagree about when someone should get to reroll to see if they get back a daily. Rob Heinsoo says you should roll after every battle (so if you use a daily in battle 1 you can also reroll after battle 2 and battle 3 even though you didn't have the ability to use in that battle). Jonathon Tweet thinks you should roll only once after the battle in which you use that ability.

Most of the Daily powers are rewritten in a straightforward way so that they could go either way. However, the Barbarian Rage seems to be written in a way that explicitly supports Jonathon Tweet's position.

It's really irrelevant. .
That was it and I do not think it is at all irrelevant one is a nerf bat and the other very very potent why should it be either extreme? I want a stable game as a starting point.

Shove as a bonus is great in theory for moving the battlefield around. But isn't the better option usually just to knock people prone?

Wouldn't you just end up with a lot of people knocking each other over all the time and the battle feeling a bit like keystone cops.
If you’re worried about that you could easily separate shove and knock prone, and keep the latter an action.
