D&D 5E Does anyone have any experience with Monks?

Yeah, he's doing his best to be the scourge of civilization. :p

He should turn into a dog at night and howl like crazy. Or a cat and rile up all of the local dogs. Make is so these unnatural city dwellers can't sleep in peace anymore. It could also be fun to change into a bear or big cat every now and then and just run through the town, leave tracks in peoples yards and gardens, etc. People will start to freak out about the wildlife, but they might also start to suspect a druid in their midst.

I'll be sure to pass that along. He's always looking for methods of creating more mayhem.

I would be interested in hearing how they are beating out the barbarian and paladin. Is it lucky rolls?

A little bit, but I think mostly the ki power points and getting 2 attacks per round have made the difference. One monk uses a short sword, the other uses a quarterstaff. Plus, I think big fighter types tend to be a magnet for bad guys who want to be sure and take out what appear to be a party's strongest members.
