Hmmm, what seems to be the problem? Do you have the most recent version of Java? They recently switched versions to the newer version. There are also some OS specific versions available.

I have used PCGen on Windows 95, 98, and xp, and on a Mac as well.

From the most recent notice:

For users who have trouble getting the 3 zip files
to unzip properly, we have some OS-specific installs
that should help minimize the chance of install
related errors.
Links to these installs can be found at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pcgen/files/Alternate PCGen Releases/

These are the same PCGen everyone else uses, just
packaged with installers which target Windows and
Mac OS X users specifically. Typically there is a
lag between when the official release is done and
when these special installers are ready.

We always recommend that users install new versions
of PCGen in a 'new' directory.

Do you have java installed on your computer? At the command prompt, type:

java -version

What do you get?

As stated before, PCGen will do 3.0 and 3.5 characters. If you have problems with the program, try going to our main Y! site ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pcgen ). Folks here will try and help you out, but that's the main site that most people read.
