Does Energy Adaptation stack with Intellect Fortress?

My evil psion currently has Energy Adaptation manifested to protect himself. It will protect him from the first 30 points of damage from any sort of energy attack.

However, within the power descriptor is the following bit: The resistance provided by this power does not stack with other forms of energy resistance.

The power Intellect Fortress is not specified as energy resistance, but it does say that it will halve the damage of all forms of attack, save those not subject to Spell/Power Resistance. My question is - if it protects against a maximized Cone of Cold that does 90 points of damage, is it considered energy resistance for that purpose?

So, the Intellect Fortress would have the damage down to 45 points and then Energy Adaptation knocks 30 off of that down to 15 points...so, the evil psion would be saving to take 7 points of damage instead of 15?

Or, would they not stack with each other, so Intellect Fortress would knock the damage down to 45 and then the psion is saving for 22 or 45.

Nope, the effects stack - and that's how I've always ruled it.

After rereading the section on 'Resistance to Energy' (just to make sure) it doesn't have any of the relevant properties. It neither applies (only) to energy types, nor is it a fixed amount.

There may be the question of order.
I'm not familiar with the exact descriptions of the powers, but from my point of view (still allowing both to apply) your example could result in either:

(90-30)/2 = 30 points of damage, (save for half?)

or:

(90/2)-30 = 15 points of damage, (save for half?)

Intellect Fortress applies first, according to its descriptor:

You encase yourself and your allies in a shimmering fortress of telekinetic force. All damage from powers and psi-like abilities taken by subjects inside the area of the intellect fortress, including ability damage, is halved. This lowering takes place prior to the effects of other powers or abilities that lessen damage, such as damage reduction and evasion.

Powers that are not subject to power resistance are not affected by an intellect fortress.

I was looking for a better term than 'corrected' when writing the post, but when I couldn't think of one (english is not my native language) I gave up and used 'corrected' anyway.

Good question. My wife's native language is not English either, so when we first met, she gave me permission to correct her English so she could improve it. So, I appreciate you trying to improve your English as well.

In your situation, I would have said something like, "If Intellect Fortress comes first, option 2 would seem to be the correct choice" or, more simply, "Then option #2 would be right"
