DOLLHOUSE #3:Belle Chose/Season 2/2009

Loved this episode more than the others of this season.

I think Echo's engagement was interesting in that it offered a bit of knowledge about what was going on inside Terry's mind: when she was discussing "Chauncy" with the professor, they talked about the power of women and how subtletly they used it to get what they want. Terry grew up repressed by all those women, so he started "playing with dolls" (even if only in that controlled environment) to reassure himself of his own power. Wich draws a lot of paralels with dollhouse clients (and workers)...

I'm wondering who's the next BSG regular to show up in this series, as we already got Tahmoh Penikett (Helo) as Ballard, Jamie Bamber (Apollo) as the arms dealer and Michael Hogan (Tigh) as the uncle. It's almost as if Joss actually wished he had something to do with BSG.

I certainly hope we see them more often. They were all awesome. ;)

However, at this point I think the show had/has numerous problems, of which ED is only one. I don't think it's entirely correct, nor fair, to put it all on her.

I would not put it all on Dushku, obviously Joss and the writers get quite a bit of blame for the slow pacing, but pacing is fixable, Dushku suddenly becoming a compelling actress...probably not....which is the 800 lb gorrilla in the room, and can only be mitigated by going to a more ensemble style (which the show did in the second half of the 1st season).

Frankly I am not enamored of the actor that plays Helio/Ballard, I find him wooden and pouting (even on BSG), but he is tolerable.

Honestly, Dollhouse as a show is mediocre. Good enough to watch, but I am not particuliarly excited by it. My Joss loyalty is high, so it has a spot on the DVR.
