Henry said:I used to work at a mom-n-pop computer store years ago, and had a husband-and-wife couple come in looking for a simple A-B serial switch box - back when these simple $5.00-cost boxes were usually priced at $30.00 or so. The wife balked, and guessed within a DIME of what we paid for it.
Cables and other small peripherals = GIGANTIC markup, even today. It's the staple money-maker, because they sure don't make enough off of computer sales to keep the doors open.
