Double Axe - where?

I had a friend spend weeks and weeks converting a mini to his exacting needs

only to have the character die in the first session :)

BTW i hope the conversion comes out well

I am sorry to hear that your first conversion experience was not so enjoyable. Hopefully you won't be discouraged from the hobby. I look back every now and then to the first figures I painted and it is like night and day. Believe me the more you paint/convert the more you try the better you will become. Sometimes people are gifted and it only takes a few times to get really good. Keep it up and I hope your next project is more successful.

On another conversion note - plastic is alwasy easier to work with. Though sometimes you sacrifice looks for ease of use.

Cheers,

-Mike

Oh, THAT'S encouraging! :p

Well, I passed that hurdle anyway. My DM contracted some type of stomach flu and cancelled the first session in which I'd use the new mini. So maybe I'll die in the second session.

Not at all. As I said, the painting paert was enjoyable, and I'm happy with the final product (warts and all) but I think I jumped into something too complex for a first-timer. I'll certainly keep at it... especially since I've already invested so much cash in the meager starter set I've built up.

I'm miserly like that. ;)

Now, the promised pics. Sorry about the poor quality of the pics.

I would say you pulled off the conversion. It doesn't look out of place. If it does end up breaking on you I would probably suggest using a brass rod to replace the shaft as it will be slightly smaller and should fit your hole in the axe head better. Even if you hole was not dead center it isn't easily discerned in the picture.

I would hate to take a guess at how much money I have sunk into painting/modeling supplied! :heh:

cheers,

-Mike

I think it looks good! The axe heads looks straight. That's a success,, when I add or subtract weapons that's the hardes thing for me. The paintjob can be top notch and the hand can be seemlessly resculpted, but if the stupid mace head is slightly askew it's noticeable across the battlemat!

Very nicely done.

That is one huge double-axe. The "hassles" that you went through are not really noticeable in the final product so in all, well done.

IF by huge you mean out-of-scale then you are correct. But thanks for the complement. I'm on my way!
