Check out this illusion in which a calm face appears to turn angry, and an angry face calms down as you back away from the screen. Cool, eh?

Wow, Aude Oliva (one of the two accredited professors at the bottom) is one of my professors this term. One group in our class extended the ambiguous face research as their project

I had to stand on the opposite side of the room, about twenty feet, and I could see it, but there was still a lot of the fine detail as well, so both looked distinctly odd.

I found 2 ways to make it work for me...

1) Back up about 10'.

2) Remain seated and take off my glasses.

Stupid eyes!

I found just sitting normally I could swap between the two different images. Could anyone else do this?

I had a similar moment yesterday evening. I was reading Gaming as Culture: Essays on Reality, Identity and Experience in Fantasy Games when I noticed that one of the references was published in a book edited by a professor I had when I did my master's (a looong time ago).
