Draconic Arrogance + Crumpling Slam: Apply once or twice?

Draconic Arrogance states:

Whenever you push an enemy or knock an enemy prone, you deal damage to that enemy equal to your Strength modifier.

Crumpling Slam states:

Hit: 2[W] + Strength modifier damage, and you push the target 2 squares and knock it prone.

What I want to know is, does Draconic Arrogance apply once or twice to that power, since I'm both pushing the target and knocking them prone? The consensus on the WotC boards seems to be that it applies twice, but I don't think anything else in the game does that and it seems a little cheesy.

Is there any official word on this?

No official word but the general consensus is that effects from features or feats that occur on an attack only occur once per attack. So as to prevent something like this:

Storm of blades + hammer rhythm + high con mod (let's say 7)

This combination would make an encounter power attack do a minimum of 49 damage if the feat worked as you are suggesting such feats to work.

I'd say, if for no other reason than untyped bonuses from the same source don't stack, that it only gets applied once.

Even just on principle, I think it should only apply once. Double-dipping has never ended well in D&D.

It's not a bonus to damage tho. It's a seperate instance of damage from the attack. Nor is it additional damage. Reistance to general damage applies to both instances, so if they have a Str mod of +5 and you push them, then knock them prone, they'd take no damage.

Whether this is balanced or not is a different discussion, but this isn't a bonus to damage.

I'd go with that as well. As you say, double-dipping is rarely a good idea. Should probably've been an "and/or" instead of an "or" in that description.

The real question is how does it work with Driving Assault:
Hit: 1[W] + Dexterity modifier damage per attack, you push the target 1 square, and you can shift 1 square toward the target. If both attacks hit, you knock the target prone after the second push.
