Dragon #357

Would someone be so kind as to pony up some info on the new obyrith demon in the Demonomicon this month? What it looks like, and a few of its abilities maybe?

It is somewhat like an obyrith dinosaur...very big, very fierce melee combatant. It if hits with multiple melee attacks, the victim might be stunned from the shock of its brutality, and those who witness may be shocked as well. It also has trample, woodland stride, and the form of madness common to all obyriths. I like it alot, and plan to use one ASAP!

That sounds like an awesome critter! Is it too tough to make an appearance on the Isle of Dread, or would it be more appropriate as an encounter in Gaping Maw? Maybe a few lurking in the wooded side of the isle in Into The Maw...

Since they kind of live on Gaping Maw, and have been since before Demogorgon moved in... they'd work PERFECT as a side encounter in Into the Maw. They'll probably be making a guest appearance in the last adventure as well.

At CR 14, they're a little tough to throw at the PCs back on the Isle of Dread. But it IS the Isle of Dread, after all... so maybe CR 14 works...

I would just like to congratulate James on making Demogorgon remotely interesting to me after reading that article in Dragon #357. Nice reference to "A Stone's Throw" by the way; the tower that short story took place in (the Tower of Magus) was recently included in my adventure Price of Courage, sans a direct reference to Demogorgon (he's not Dragonlance IP, after all). I did mention a "summoned fiend" though, which I guess is really understating things a bit. ;)

Cheers,
Cam

Is there ever!

The article has a statblock for Cronus who, at CR 56, is an advanced Titan, Barbarian 20/Legendary Dreadnaught 10. His melee attack is pretty sick, as you can imagine.

He has a +15 adamantine cestus! I think it's the most bad-ass stat block I've ever seen in Dragon. Kind of mean to stick it in the same magazine as "wimpy" CR 33 Demogorgon, I think.

Cheers,
Cam

I think he's the runner-up to the CR 100 sphinx in Dragon #297. ;)

I would've made him an Elder Titan Barbarian 20/Legendary Dreadnought 10 with the Paragon template added...he is, after all, the eldest of all titans and the leader of them so the "paragon" would've suited him well also. Definitely would've given him Divine Rank 0 along with it, of course.

Though, his CR would've skyrocketed to...CR 75 I think? Heh heh.

Man I love EPIC MATERIAL! :D Stuff to make your players wet their pants is what I like to see. :]

Sweet! I think I'll be dropping a few on Divided's Ire then. Thanks for the info Shade & James. :]
