Dragon Magazine #318 not your typical April issue

Maybe Hollow World is just a cover for Eberron? Aren't there dinos in the new pulp noir fantasy setting?

As the author of said articles, I can tell you that my original article proposal was too much and could easily be split in two. It was dinosaur-themed, and I guess they still liked the concept enough to include in 318. No pirates or ninjas flipping out and killing people, though.

I wish it were a cover for Eberron since that'd mean I would have had access to more preview material on that setting! ;)

All I know of Eberron environment is like "Dinotopia meets Dune" or "Morrowind meets The Lost World."

REG, this has been hashed out to death around here. The dinosaurs are in one backwater chunk of the world and easily ignorable. It's not at all like what you'd see in Dinotopia.

Neat. I'm looking forward to receiving that issue. Unfortunately, I still haven't received issues 316 and 317. I used to receive my copy in the first week of the month - often before American subscribers - and I live in Japan, but now Paizo has this "8 week delay on international subscriptions" thing, yet I'm still paying more for my subscription because I live overseas. :\

Dungeons & Dinosaurs - 11 dinosaurs to add to your MM. Covers the Compsognathus, Dimetrodon, Diplodocus, Gigantosaurus, Helicoprion, Liopleurodon, Pachycephalosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Pteranodon, Rhamphorhynchus, and Stegosaurus; also dinosaur companions and familiars.

Who says that this wasn't a typical humorous April issue? I know this is a joke, I've never used dinos in my campaigns. I might use the old Pleistocene era mammals, but not dinos.

So... Pirates and Ninjas? :D

I think a friend told me they were natural enemies, or something.

Wonder if that reference is intentional. Or if I'm just imagining whatever reference I'm referring to. um. :heh: I remember it being amusing, though.

You are correct. Pirates and Ninjas are natural enemies... just ask my friend Mark.

Counting down to the inevitable wail of horror from people who will argue that Ninjas ought to have d12 HD, Fighter BAB, all good saves, 8+Int skill points and the unarmed combat and AC progression of a monk in order to be historically accurate. ;)

10...

And why wouldn't they? I'd argue that they should have d20 for hit points since as everyone knows Ninjas have REAL ULTIMATE POWER!!!!

One of my favorite memories is the one where the cleric dodge the charging triceratops, then lept on to its back. The triceratops just kept on going, taking the cleric far far away and leaving the rest of us to deal with the t rex that caused the triceratops to flee.

It was fun, and it was 1st ed. It was also the same game where my fighter died and was reincarnated by the party druid into a psuedodragon.

Took the pseudodragon something like 20 stings before the triceratops finally keeled over leaving the cleric and me about 6 miles from the rest of the party.

Ah, memories....

Seriously, dino adventures, a la Lost World, can be quite fun.
