Dragon Magazine #337 details?

I don't suppose someone will give me some idea about the stats and/or suggestions for the Lords, IE like who is who and what not...

Details on Zuggy's most recent activities, also a plus

And yes, details about Dragon #338 wouldn't be TOO much right?

There's basically a template with common traits all overlords (rajahs) have. Several are called out by name. Sul Khatesh, The Keeper of Secrets is fully stated out as a Wiz 36/ archmage 4. Also named, but not fully stated out are Rak Tulkhesh, the rage of war(fighter 15/cleric 15/ blackguard 10); Eldrantulku, the oathbreaker(rogue 15/ sorcerer 15/ mindbender 10); Tul Oreshka, the truth in the darkness(bard 20/ wizard 10/ loremaster 10); and Katashka, the gatekeeper(cleric 8/ wizard 8/ true necromancer 14)

I haven't read the article on 'Z' yet, I'll let you know. :)

I see it like the Lord of Blades - if you like the approach I've taken you can use it; if you don't, you can go another way. Furthermore, there's nothing saying that all rajahs are alike; given their primal and mysterious nature, there could be another five that have a completely different level of ability than the ones I've presented here. One of my main motivations for providing stats was to give at least some indication of relative strength: to make clear that we are talking about beings with a divine level of power, not simply rakshasa with a few extra hit dice.

This does not reflect an overall change to a philosophy of "everything needs to be defined!" I have no plans to ever reveal the cause of the Mourning, and like I said, if someone else wants to use archdevils or demon princes as rajahs - or something of their own design - more power to them. But a lot of people have said "Eberron doesn't have epic level challenges!" - and I wanted to show that there are horrors in the darkness, and to give those people something to sink their teeth into.

Thanks for the answer Keith. Knowing more about the rajha's will definatly help design challenges for when my pc's reach high level. :] [/evil laughter]

Griff,

*jaw drops* wow. 36 wizard/4 archmage. Dude that's like sicker than Mordy! *thinks perhaps the rage of war should have barbarian levels instead of fighter levels but oh well...*

In any case those are some NICE and nasty epic challenges. :)

SKR does Boccob?! Wow.

And chance you can further detail what's coming up in #338?

Oh and about the Lords, are they outsiders or just powerful mortals?

They're outsiders, accually "Immortal Spirits" like outsider bt more powerful ;)

"core belifs" is a new series detailing the myths, temples, planar allies, holy texts, holidays and more or varius deitys.

"staffing issues" is about legends surrounding staves thoughout the ages and it looks like rules for substituting the summon familiar ability for the ability to empower your staff.

"Schools of Magic" - pretty self explanitory

" Imps of Ill Humor" is four new types of imp.

If I'm a Githzerai paladin of the Silver Flame...and I want to annihilate Xoriat from existance... is a) possible and b) what level should that be?
Destroy it completely? I would say no. In my opinion, the planes are fundamentally tied into reality and can't be destroyed. Shavarath is a reflection of conflict, and as long as there's conflict, it will exist. Xoriat is, on some level, tied to the mind of every mortal creature, just as Dal Quor is.

With that said, there are two possibilities I could see. First, you could sever Xoriat from Eberron, in the same way that the giants severed Dal Quor. the fact that it's happened to one plane implies that it could happen to another. Of course, the question is what sort of repercussions such an act could have on the rest of reality.

Second, it's possible that you could find a way to "reset" Xoriat. Dal Quor has been said to go through cycles - and when the cycle changes, everything in the realm is transformed. The quori of the present day are not the quori that invaded before. The Dreaming Dark are seeking to prevent this change, while the Path of Light is all about accelerating it. So perhaps there's a way to perform a similar action in Xoriat. You can't destroy it, any more than you can destroy madness itself - but you might be able to destroy everything it has been to this point, wiping out the Daelkyr and their creations. The question, of course, is what would emerge in its place. You might get your personal revenge, but who knows what the consequences will be.

I'd certainly call it an epic challenge, and I'd say researching the techniques the giants used to sever Dal Quor is probably the best approach - but with the potential backlash of the action, you might find all sorts of powers allied to stop such destruction.

Oh, as a side note, I'd like to acknowledge the help of C.A. Suleiman (Heroes of Horror, Hamunaptra, and many more)... Earlier in the year we spent some time discussing the Lords of Dust, and these conversations were certainly on my mind as I developed the article.

Although we don't have our copies of the new Dragon here at the office yet (see? Subscribers aren't the only ones who get burned by the Post Office!), in my article turnover Zuggtmoy was a CR 25 creature.

I can't wait to check out that Lords of Dust article myself. Looked like it had some nifty artwork, but those mean Dragon editors wouldn't let me look too closely at it. :(

You can find discussion of the new DDM material at the following links. (Hey, there's a Marut Inevitable pictured!)

Stephen Schubert has also posted this about the DDM map:
The Drow Outpost map, btw, was designed to fit between one of the drow enclave/fane maps of Fane of the Drow, and one of the Hellspike Prison maps, for those that want to cover their tables with three connected maps.I think it's kinda cool. Then again - company shill and all that... Future maps will investigate other fantastic locations, and one of my favorite maps (reusable in most RPGs and very compelling for skirmish) is in the fantastic locations product after Hellspike Prison.

Cheers!

Keith, where is the best place to ask questions about the Age of Worms conversion notes? Is there any place where you've already answered questions? If someone posted a thread on the Paizo boards is there any chance you might stop by from time to time to check it out?

I was disappointed that the conversions haven't made their way into the magazine, and I'm frustrated that the online supplements they appear in are always a month or two behind the magazine release. We also don't have a conversion for the campaign arc, so it's difficult to make major plans and foreshadow what's to come. I've "winged it" up to Hall of Harsh Reflections but any morsels you could give would help make our small gaming troop out near Sacramento extremely happy.

It's funny because it's true.

Near as I can tell, one of the only sure-fire ways to increase newsstand sales of a magazine is to put a drow on the cover.

Go figure.

Erik, I have a great idea for the magazine. How about an issue with drow-themed class acts for all 11 classes?

Too bad Polyhedron never got a chance to run Drow, Derro, and Dragsters -- Cannonball Run in the Underdark. Dom Deluis would have been a Kuo-Toa. We could've had a Vin Diesel cameo.

Seriously, can someone give Erik Mona a large-breasted dark elf avatar?
