Dragonkard... what do you think?

[Repeated from our boards]
Obviously we can't test every single printer, so I can't give a definitive answer but generally speaking:

All top-loading inkjets should be ok.
All front-loading inkjects should be ok (some HPs we've noticed get a little confused, but you can compensate with a slight adjustment to the template)
All home/small office lasers with a bypass tray for heavy paper/transparencies etc. approx. 160 gsm or above should be ok.
(having said that our Canon i-Sensys LBP3300 takes a full sheet from the regular tray also)
If you're unsure, just get a sampler and test it out (that's what it's there for).

I am looking at the Samsung CLP610DN, which will take the following weights (which is the same as :
  • Cassettes-16 lbs. to 28 lbs.
  • multipurpose tray 16 lbs. to 43 lbs.

Looking at an online chart I see that 43lb paper is nowhere near enough. Are you sure it requires 160gsm?

EDIT: Though I have a Samsung ML-3051DN black & white laser that won't accept typical cardstock(110lb, 199gsm) in the extra media tray, but will barely take it (with great effort) from the cassette tray.

Hmmm, maybe a laser printer isn't the best for these?

I ended up buying a sample pack back in November, but didn't do anything with them due to moving offices. As part of the office move, I got a nice shiny new printer, a HP Officejet Pro k8600 (needed a3 printing ability...)

After one of my twin girls decided to tear up and eat one of my paper power cards from the character builder at the weekend, I decided to try out the dragonkards. It took 7 test prints and a complete redesign of their template, but I got it working, and made it so that the output from the character builder looks very good on on the cards.

I bought them too. But I'm a game geek, buy stuff I'll never use just because it looked neat.

The card stock is pretty thin. Not move than coverstock that you can buy at any office supply shop. The back of the card is laminated, not the front. All-in-all, I'm not unhappy with my purchase, but I can't really recommend them to people who don't have money to burn like I do.
