As you might expect I'm sort of biased too - though I have serious difficulties with the feel of the post War of Souls/Age of Mortals.
I run a War of the Lance era campaign, which is my preferred epoch for the setting.
I do agree that the books have been - for the most part - well done. I was not a great fan of the DLCS or of the Age of Mortals hardcovers. Since that time, however, the quality of the writing has vastly increased.

The War of the Lance is a tremendously well done D20 book - and imo, the best licensed D&D product on the market.
I just picked up Spectre of Sorrows today actually. Some day I may run it - but after my current DL campaign ends (a year of real time to go yet I fear) I'll be DL'd out and moving on to Greyhawk and the Age of Worms.
