Dragonlance War Mage Question

Hey,
Not sure if this is the right place for this one, but:

Would the extra damage from the War Mage's Battle Magic class feature be affected by Empower Spell?

As a DM I allowed it last session because i wasn't sure what it did, but upon further reading of the class feature I wasn't sure if it would work.

I would normally say no, because it isn't random, it just adds a number to each die of damage, thus someone with battle magic +3 could throw a 10D6+30 lightning bolt at someone. What confuses me is the Magic Missile example under the Empower Spell description. it says you would roll 1d4+1 for each missile, and then multiply the result by 1.5

So that's where i am.

Towers of High Sorcery clarifies the issue in the errata for the War mage.

Basically, battle magic can be used for a number of times a day equal to 3 + Con modifier. Metamagic feats, such as Empower Spell, do not affect battle magic as it isn't a variable effect.
