Dragonshard is out.

It's driving me crazzy. First I hade to find it, and now I can not get it to load. I should have all the hardware to lode it up. I can get it to use the autoplay to work then it gose to the Dragon Shard sreen Then it thinks and then the program shuts donw. Any ideas why??? I would love to play it. At this time I like the look at the units. But I am sad to say it is a D&D game with out MM.

Wow I hope thats not the case, my C: drive is just for my swap file and doesn't have room to install anything to it.

Nope. I put it on my D drive, no problem.

I have to admit, I a more curious about Eberron because of this game. However, I do think it is too bad that they didn't use DND rules instead of somewhat standard RTS rules. The RTS rules they used are cool from what I have seen, so don't get me wrong. The game is fine. I am merely surprised they didn't use DND rules, since the computer could track it all.

I have now played through the first mission and it was fun. My "grade" at the end wasn't good and I do feel somewhat compelled to try and get a better grade next time. And to try a different main character.

I do like that resource gathering = treasure and looting. I think that is appropriate and well done.

So, overall, I have liked the little I have seen.

Have a good one! Take care!

There's no point in messing with the editor yet, as it isn't finished...it was only included on the gold copy by mistake. They were planning to polish it more and release it in a patch. As it is, expect major editor updates in future patches.

The lack of marketing sucks bad, but that's because Atari declared bankrupty several months back, and closed at least one major U.S. office. Virtually all the Atari people and marketers working with Liquid on the game were fired months ago....

I've bought it and played it up through the 4th mission. Its been pretty fun though it lags a little at times when things get really busy but thats fairly normal depending on your hardware.

A Few things however.

I Had that same problem with the AutoPlay as well.. simple use explorer and double-click on the autoplay manually. I hate it when a disk doesnt autoplay but it happens often enough I just grunt and shrug and let it be.

I also had the same problem of getting that dragonshard screen and then it just stops as if the program quit. If you installed the patch thats prolly the problem. I think the validator on the patch is screwed up cause it locked up on me and never fully worked. UnInstall and install again without patching. It played fine for me after that. The patch appearently addresses multiplayer issues so if your playing single player it shouldent matter.

You CAN Re-play scenario's though I dont know how it effects the rewards exactly. I find it interesting to play through doing what you can and then seeing what all the missions are etc so that you can determine how to get the Meticulous bonus which is a significant chuck of the reward points you get at the end of each mission. FYI. Mission 3 Lady Marrin goes missing so dont spend your reward points getting her Hammer powered up only to find out you cant use her that mission like I did *grumble-mutters but grins a little too*.

At the moment I've been playing it on Easy and it IS alot easier to get the misc. rewards that way (such as the Meticulous bonus) but it after the first couple of missions becomes very appearent to me that trying to get some of the other bonuses become lower priorty issues. But they are kind of fun to try for. Again, I'm playing on Easy at the moment and tried the first mission on normal and the difficulty's are rather noticable so I dont imagine getting most of the rewards save for the quest rewards and meticulous (and some of the missions require you almost to play through to learn what some of the hidden side quests are).

All in all it is interesting and fun and decently challenging. Not superfabuloussupremeogreat ... but Its not bad either. Being able to play with different champions (which you can switch between missions if you want to use a different champions each mission, your not stuck picking one the entire course of the game) as well as the bi-level play of surface and underworld is neat. I only wish you could carry more items in your backpack *chuckles*.
