Dragonstar?

Kirowan

First Post
Lately I've been thinking of ordering the Starfarer's Handbook. But before I do, I was wondering how the game handles automatic weapon fire for both 3 round bursts and suppressive fire/spraying the room? Can anyone give me some info?

Thanks!

Automatic weapons can be fired in single shot mode (every base attack you get to fiire a shot). 3 round burst mode (every base attack you fire 3 shots, for every 5 above the to hit AC you roll, an extra shot hits.) and suppressive fire is a cone in front of you.(15+ shots everyone in the cone you get to roll a hit to. this includes everyone who enters the cone till your next round.)

These rules sound nice and simple. Some more quick questions. For suppressive fire, does your attack roll suffer a penalty at all? If it doesn't, it seems powerful to be able to hit 15 people at a time. Also, are three round bursts and suppressive fires full round actions?

Thanks!

yeah suppresive fire has a -4 penalty to hit.
theres a feat to take burst fire down to an extra hit with every +3 above Ac, its got a ton of pre-reqs.
And yes there both full round actions.

There are two types of firearms in the game -- semiautomatic and automatic.

Semiautomatic can fire up to one shot for each attack, such as 2 shots/round for a 6th lvl fighter.

Automatics can fire up to one BURST for each attack the character has per round. Most bursts are three-shot, and the second shot in burst hits as well if the modified attack roll was AC+5, and the third if the roll is AC+10. Taking a feat lowers those requirements to AC+3 and AC+6, respectively. Likewise, some large weapons (like the heavy machinegun) fire five-round bursts...

Automatics can also be fired in semiautomatic mode, though, if you wish to conserve ammo...

So a high-level character can't fire multiple three-round-bursts?
No I was wrong, they get a 3 round burst for every attack tehy have. So burst fire is not a full round action.
