Drinking at the Game Table?

Ha! I love it!

I am always wary of games where the participants drink. I haven't had a problem since college, but that one session was enough to put me off gaming and drinking entirely. Suffice it to say that being a female in an all-guy group and one of the two people not drinking is not a happy thing.

DM: The NPC ogre in the tavern gets a +4 beer goggles bonus to her Cha but you get a +4 beer muscles bonus to your Str.

We always thought our group was the exception to the rule since we boozed it up a bit while gaming. Nothing too bad, just some beer and maybe some Bushmills Irish Whiskey shooters. But I see I have a lot of fellows here and it's a beautiful thing.

I think I have something in my eye...

We put away a bit of beer during our sessions, and one of the players makes mead -- so that hits the table every once in a while too.

I can only think of one or two occasions where somebody got noticeably buzzed. Usually the beer is offset by soda.

WE had an on-character feast/dinner party, to celebrate the last session of a 3 year campaign. (The GM was miving back to Australia) So, we cooked, and everyone brought wines, from Sauternes to Reislings etc...and a few after dinner drinks. Well, at the climax, Dave, the GM was passed out, face down on the table. He had been drinking whule cooking as well. So we had to end the game ourselves. Pretty funny, even 10 years later.

Gimme a few Smithwicks and I'll be happy

for those looking for an Authentic mead, check out Midas Touch, by a local brewery in Rehobeth Beach Delaware named Dogfish Head. Pretty amazing stuff.

"Theres a tear in my beer, and I'm crying for you dear"

I'm not sure which is worse (or better): alcohol or caffeine.

Most adults know their limits with alcohol and won't get trashed at a game session. Once the coffee and colas come out, it sometimes becomes a twitchy, motor-mouthed rampage of distraction.

Sometimes.
