Aw, man. Did you ever see the music video for Taco's "Puttin' on the Ritz?" I remember his cover in the 80s when I was a kid, but I was in my thirties when I first saw the European version of the video and it was like staring at the gory aftermath of an automobile accident. I simply could not believe what I was seeing yet I could not look away.

Most settings have historically been very Eurocentric. When they plunk down Asian(Oriental Adventures), Arabian(Al-Qadim), South American(Mazteca), etc., they have to show up on the fringes of the maps, because the maps have already been drawn.
I've always heard it's fine for things to be Oriental but not people. It does get a bit complicated, I was surprised to learn that some older Asians here in the United States and Canada prefer Oriental to Asian. Younger Asians prefer not to be referred to as Oriental. You can't please everyone all the time. Language changes. I think sometimes the changes are silly, but that's because humans are sometimes silly, so what should I expect? At least in some cases, like not using the worlds phylactery or Oriental, they're trying to avoid hurt feelings. It's not like they're trying to use language to deny the existence of anyone in particular.
I wondered how that could happen, but then I just encountered a three-page thread that I can see exactly three posts inWell you see, I have so many people on Ignore now, I couldnt even tell you what the correct count is for my settings.
