D&D 5E Dual-Wielding

I have always enjoyed the classic multi-dagger fighter. What are your favorite weapons to equip on your dual-wielding characters? Have you created, or are planning, a 5th edition character with those weapons?

I am running two 5E campaigns now (don't know when I will ever get to play) so I am expressing my dual wield ideas through NPCs.

In one campaign I have created a were-rat villaness who dual wields whip and dagger.

Since my character background is Pirate, I've got a free belaying pin that I keep around. That + a dagger has been what I've dual-wielded with.

I'm a little sad that whip isn't more effective; whip and rapier (or whip and shortsword) sounds tremendously fun otherwise.

Hmm. Anyone want to bet that someone has houseruled a Whip feat to allow them to grab, trip or disarm? EDIT: I'd probably allow such attempts by attacking with disadvantage. That's reasonable, fun and less powerful than the Battle Master.

Yeah I'm working on redoing the whip to:

1) do bludgeoning damage. If you can't cut a rope with it just say no to slashing damage!

2) allow for longer whips that expand the range at the cost of needing to ready between attacks.

3) create a simple system to allow for trip and disarms that don't overwhelm the battlemaster fighter maneuvers.

Why don't you ... whip... one up?
I don't really want to take a ... crack ... at it.
I can't think of a ... scourge... pun.
Sounds like you're flailing. Puns like this are a snap.

I wonder if you could effectively fight with hammer and tongs. What weapon could we reskin, if any?
