D&D 4E Dump Stats in 4e?

Maybe, but with new social encounter rules coming into play, ignoring Charisma might be a very bad idea now.

That's possible, but I don't think its likely.

There are three types of players who dump charisma. The first is the type who intends to use his winning real world personality to get him through social encounters, and hopes the DM won't pay attention to his crappy in game charisma. The second is the type who sees being uncharismatic as a feature, rather than a bug. He wants his character to be gruff and offensive to others, and doesn't mind that he gets a mechanical advantage in combat by trading off his ability to smile. The third just doesn't care all that much about social encounters, and figures he'll get by, or that someone else will handle it.

I think the second outnumbers the first. The third probably outnumbers the second.

New social encounter rules will mostly affect the first. Even if the new rules are well written, there's still a good chance that some of the players in the party will look at the social skills, and decide that the paladin can just handle the talky stuff.

I'm hoping that each stat will have equal weight in the minds of the designers this time. This will mean that different classes will have different dump stats, but that over all a +2 to one stat can be balanced by a -2 to any other, single stat. That was my biggest issue with stats in 3.5. I always wondered why, if strength was more valuable than intelligence, did they cost the same with the point buy method? Stuff like that.

Unless they move Will save to charisma, which already govers force of personality by RAW so it's not a stretch.
Oh, I wish. That would make so much more sense than the "Wisdom represents willpower . . . but so does Charisma!" situation we've got right now. Just let Wisdom be perception, alertness, and insight; and keep all the willpower, resolve, strength of personality, etc. effects tied to Charisma.

They could move Will to charisma, but add a note that you still use Wisdom against illusions (and while on the subject, Strength should be used instead of Con for Fortitude saves against paralysis).

In SAGA wisdom reflects your number of force powers...however it is still used for the wisdom score.

However, if every class special something is tied to wisdom, then I could see them moving the will save to cha.
