Warner Brothers has declared War on Disney right before Christmas.

Even while the fate of their universe is up in question (sale), they have chosen violence.

I'm not too familiar with the stories, but isn't Duncan Idaho some kind of clone? If he's "reborn" after dying then it would make sense for Momoa to return, but I agree, he's over used.

It's pretty much central to the plot. The antagonists want to control Paul using a clone of his childhood friend as bait.

I enjoyed her deadpan energy early in her career. But unfortunately for me, she's an actress that doesn't blend in. I always see her as Zendaya. It doesn't bother me in some works, but I haven't been a fan in Dune.

The books slowly became less impactful for me after the original trilogy and God Emperor of Dune.

I can't quite say that I like God-Emperor of Dune (though I'm still not quite sure whether it's deeply homophobic or more kind of well-intentioned, but missing the mark - I'd have to read it again to even get an idea ...). But in terms of imagery, it left an enormous impression with me. and I'd love to see a movie.
The two books after that I barely remember, though.

I think Herbert was definitely homophobic. It pops up again and again through his Dune novels and I seem to recall some random homophobia in The White Plague.

Duncan Idaho's gholas end up being one of the most interesting ideas in the Dune series -- by God Emperor, he's been reborn thousands of times, which isn't great for anyone's mental state -- but only book readers know that twist.

If it were me, I wouldn't have had him on the posters or in the trailers, just to give a proper Red Wedding-style shock to the movie-goers.

The last two books were setting up new avenues that Herbert didn't live to explore. I thought the final novel in particular was really interesting, but it literally ends on a cliffhanger.
