I just reread Messiah, it's ok except not oh wow.

Definitely interested in seeing in how it is going to finish, and if it is the conclusion to film series, how it will tie things off.
I wonder if they will have Paul take on Letos fate, rather than Leto having to take it on, which in the book Paul was a bit too human with all the associated flaws to do, whereas Leto was somewhat more inhuman from the get go.
Or if will try and go in different direction and have Paul arrange things so his children are free to go their own way / not be tied go prescience.
I think challenge with going further into God Emperor is how that book starts undercutting the themes in the first 2 books (Children is a bit mixed in theme from memory), which i think the movies did a good job of making more overt, compared to say Lynchs movie where Paul very much felt like the hero completing heros journey .

I very much doubt we will see any human-headed sandworms in this movie. It's just too goofy for the grounded tone. Besides, Dune 2 seemed to retcon sandtrout into a small juvenile worm.

I did notice Dune 2 made a bigger point of Paul and Alia's Harkonnen ancestry, so we might have the somehow Barron Harkonnen returned element from Children of Dune. I heard Dune 3 is specifically set 17 years later, making Alia 17.

I've read the books so I know what's coming and I am in, but the trailer is pretty dull and makes it look like just more of the same.

I saw the trailer in the theater today (seeing Project Hail Mary). I was surprised at how visually unimpressive it was. I'll definitely still see this one, but the trailer did not do a great job of selling it.

Well the budget for Dune 3 is ballpark $200 million. If you got the cash I am sure they would be thrilled to go for round 4

Yeah, it's a weird one. They may be trying to save the big stuff for later or maybe those are still in the VFX production stage.
