Even though I'm a LARPer, I feel elated and disgusted at the same time. The concept is interesting but the delivery is messy... unless it was a parody. Were it cleaned up and given better direction and some sophistication(and costume design, IMO), I'd certainly watch it without any guilt.

Also, the rule-bending (bless does not give a +1 to all saving throws and combat rolls, dammit!) makes my inner rules-lawyer cry.

Oh yeah, and the cleric/necro is hot. She can cure my light wounds anytime...:D

A friend of mine told me a while ago that there was a show in Australia about a group of DnDers in which roleplaying is the centralpart of the show, he also said that Christina Applegate was in it. He was probably just blowing smoke up my butt though.

Strangely enough, the description of this show reminds me of that "instructional" video that came with the Board game Dragon Strike.

I find that things like this, while having the potential for alienating potential gamers by highlighting the "geek factor", also serve to increase the exposure of the "lifestyle" to people who would not normally consider it as an entertainment source.

Admittedly, while mildly exploitative and condescending of gamers in general, it is nonetheless establishing a baseline from which other (better) shows can then be made. Not only that but it also allows us to laugh at ourselves and remember how we were when WE first started playing. You know what I'm talking about. All of those stereotypical characters.
Player 1 "Ugh! Me Barbarian! Me smash smelly orc!"
Player 2 "My elf archer shoots the third orc in the eye from 1000 paces."
Player 3 " My dwarf charges and skewers one of them on my helmet!"
Player 4 "I cast Fireball on the whole lot of them..."
Players 1 2 and 3 " NO! DON'T!!"
DM : "OK... You all die."
Player 2 "But I was 1000 paces away!"
DM : "You fumbled your attack roll. Your bowstring snapped, killing you."

Ahh .. Memories
