Dungeon Tiles - an appreciative note

When the 3rd set is finally released (I believe it was delayed)

I already have it, and had it for a couple of weeks. It's nice, and has "rounded" tiles (to make octagonal rooms) Remind me to post the pictures I took when I'm back home.

Hi,

Orc's Nest in London haven't had either Set 2 (which was meant to have come out in November) or Set 3 (January) by the time I went on holiday last week. Has anyone in the UK managed to get hold of either of these sets? They are very cool.

Richard

I purchased the arcane tiles from amazon.co.uk. Still waiting on the latest set.

Even if I don't buy any more books, I'll be getting the miniatures and these tiles. I have 3 of set one and two of set two. As suggested by several already, I am thinking of getting 2 of each set.

Very good and well made. I recommend them highly.

Got one of each set (germany has already been blessed with #3) and plan to get a second of each. They are wonderfull. One of the best gaming purchases I've ever made and affordable to boot.

On a simmilar note, anyone know how good the paizo tiles are and how well they mesh with the wotc ones?

I have both the Dungeon Tiles and Paizo 'GameMastery' Map Packs and I have to say they work beautifully together. The scale is bang on for putting them right next to each other the only difference being the Paizo tiles are thin (think light bristol board stock or heavy printer paper) while the WotC tiles are thick card stock. The art on both is excellent although some sets of Paizo are a bit dark. I personally love both of these products and plan to buy all of the Paizo map packs and 2 of every dungeon tile release (I have 3 of the first and 2 of the second - still waiting on the 3 set here in Canada).

But one other thing I learned - you can draw on the tiles with wet erase markers and wipe them off easily without damaging the tile. I don't know if that was intended, but I drew on one of the portcullus tiles with the black marker, and even after leaving it overnight the markings wiped off easily the next day.

Ack! I had exactly the opposite happen. When I got my first set of tiles, that was the first thing I tried. Wrote on a small piece with red wet-erase and it soaked right in within seconds.

Do this at your own risk.

Red wet-erase markers are evil. Note the part where Chessex tells us "The red has a tendency of staining much more than the other colors so it is best used for highlighting only. "

Interesting point - I've got to admit, that most of the faded 'still won't erase' markings I've seen on wet-erase mats have been red. And when I was testing on a piece, I was using the black marker, because my main interest is marking doors, walls, and irregular areas.

I'll have to get out my rainbow of markers and try them on a piece, and see how the different colors erase.

Yay! Science!

They should also work together nicely with the Skeleton Key Games e-tiles that bought and have printed out.

I believe the street date for the third set has been pushed up to Feb 27th.

Yeah, they're awesome. I used them this weekend in my new monthly face to face game and they worked GREAT.

Thaumaturge.

I think that this is wise advice. I never use red markers on wet or dry erase surfaces after hearing many horror stories where the red has stained.
