Dungeon Tiles - an appreciative note

I believe the street date for the third set has been pushed up to Feb 27th.

Yeah, they're awesome. I used them this weekend in my new monthly face to face game and they worked GREAT.

That's strange since a couple of people on this board have stated that they already have them. Did only some of the shipments get delayed? Or are some European places selling them early again?

I saw the 3rd set in a LGS here in Japan, and have placed an order for it form Amazon Japan. Thanks for the review of the Gamemastery ones also. I looked at how thin they were and was leery of buying them. I think I will start with Wizards and then maybe branch out. Is everyoen looking forward to the wildernes set? I know I will have to buy at least 2 of those.

The Gamemastery ones seem to be big blocks of area already mapped - I think these would be more useful for a custom module where you can set the map to be the same as the map tiles you own, whereas the dungeon tiles have the advantage of being reconfigurable for whatever style of map you have, custom or store-bought.

Interesting point - I've got to admit, that most of the faded 'still won't erase' markings I've seen on wet-erase mats have been red. And when I was testing on a piece, I was using the black marker, because my main interest is marking doors, walls, and irregular areas.

I'll have to get out my rainbow of markers and try them on a piece, and see how the different colors erase.

Yay! Science!

Well, let us know how that turns out. I my case, it wasn't just a stain. The little scribble I made was permanent. Maybe black works better. I didn't go any further than red.

Ditto-red is evil when it comes to wet-erase mats. I ruined my battlemat with red years ago.

Except for the occasional four piece building I haven't really run into this a problem. A good 80% of the tiles i have from Paizo can be used by themselves (I keep my battlemat underneath them and use the tiles from both companies to build the adventure area). The dungeon tiles are more customizable but the paizo ones give you a large variety of settings and terrain.

I think that this is wise advice. I never use red markers on wet or dry erase surfaces after hearing many horror stories where the red has stained.

I dunno, there's something to be said for having bloodstained battlemats....

I was volunteering at GenCon SoCal and one of my tasks was cleaning a bunch of battlemats. I can tell you from cleaning hundreds (OK, scores) that the red is the worst, then the blue, then the black. Green is the absolute best: green wet erase that had been sitting for days came off with no problem.

Thomas, those are nice. I like the fact you've put shots up on the demo (tomb of the damned), so can see what you get for your money. And more on your website too.

Next time I DM and need some tiles I shall look up "the forge studios".

Where is the demo of the tomb? I looked on their site and couldn't find it.
