Dungeon's 2nd Adventure Path

Looking forward

I am currently playing a PC in the Adventure Path... JUst finished whooping Babboon butt at the Inn. I am looking forward to the next one which I may run as DM. They are a great benefit since I have little time to spend on coming up with adventures. I have great ideas, but never the time to flesh them out. Piecemealing from several sources has left me with an 11th level group that has had some ongoing storyline, but often has the feeling of events happenging only because the party just arrived in town. Think of them as the fantasy A-Team.

They have already side that there will be one every issue once it starts for sure.

Any idea how they plan to tie that in with their new scheme of presenting one low-, one mid- and one high-level adventure per issue? Assuming low level is 1-5 or thereabouts, this ties up that 'slot' for almost half the year, which doesn't sound ideal for anyone who doesn't want to run the Adventure Path.

(Not that I'm against another Adventure Path. If it's as good as Shackled City, I'll be well pleased.)

AP2's twenty month run may strain the new editorial policy of supporting play at every major level of play with each issue but this could be mitigated by the fact that each installment will only be for one level of play. That intrigues me. I will be subscribing to their newsletter. Alternatively, I could just keep mail-ordering the mags, as usual.

This is actually one of the things that I'm the most nervous about as regards the 20-month Adventure Path 2 project. Since we'll be (hopefully) doing one installment of Adventure Path 2 in each issue (starting sometime in early 2005), for the first 5 issues, all the low level adventrues will be Adventure Path installments. The next 7 issues clog the mid-level adventures, and then the last 8 issues clog all the high-level adventrues.

Our current plan is to keep each individual adventure in AP2 as self-contained as possible, moreso than we did with Shackled City. Adventures from AP2 will be much easier to pull out and play as one-shot adventures, or to adapt to other extant campaigns.

We learned a lot doing the Shackled City adventure path, and we've been paying close attention to reader and fan responses to the series, both on messageboards and in email. We're still very much in the concepting stage, so any suggestions and observations about what worked and what didn't work with the Shackled City are most definately welcome (and appreciated!).

I'm very much encouraged by the plans for the next Adventure Path.

(Oh, and I can get free miniatures for running them through the RPGA? That sounds good. ;))

Cheers!

Hey, James. I personally am very excited about the second adventure path and I'm glad to hear that the installments will be in consecutive issues. That was one thing that bugged me about the first one - waiting for two or three issues for the next adventure (#104 to #107 for instance).

I can't wait to see how the Shackled City adventure path ends and hope that the AP2 is every bit as good.
